Steel, galvanised, aluminium and fibreglass dishes
The dish is the outdoor antenna that captures the satellite signal for your decoder. Without a properly aligned dish and a compatible LNB, the decoder cannot receive a usable satellite signal.

Single, Smart and Optical LNBs
The LNB (Low Noise Block downconverter) sits on the dish arm and converts the satellite signal. Modern Explora and most XtraView setups require a Smart LNB.
Older universal types work for basic single-view but are not ideal for multi-decoder or advanced features. There is a wide range of LNBs with different qualities and lifespans — Single, Smart and Optical among others.

HD Decoder, Explora and Explora Ultra
A DStv decoder receives the encrypted digital satellite signal from your dish through the LNB and coaxial cable, decrypts it according to your active MultiChoice subscription, and converts it into picture and sound for your television.
We supply three types of decoder: HD Decoder, Explora and Explora Ultra. Decoder functionality differs, so it is wise to tell us which features you are looking for and we will recommend the best decoder for you.
